This chapter explores both the possibilities and pedagogical considerations for using technology to advantage and for engaging students in creating assessment content. Effective use of technology for formative assessment offers immediate learning feedback to students and can free up the instructor to provide feedback on more complex matters. Including incremental scaffolds into more complex projects such as research also provide formative feedback with better overall student success. Possible tools continue to explode. Paired with effective instructional practices, these tools promise engagement and increased learning.
